Frequently Asked Questions
NO! The Pregnancy Studio is a full ultrasound facility. We perform diagnostic ultrasounds as well as 3D/4D/HD scans which are read and interpreted by a board certified Radiologist. We are not a keepsake facility. Our technologists are registered by ARDMS and specializes in Abdominal, Obstetrical and Vascular ultrasound.
Our new GE Voluson E8 offers not only superior 3D/4D Ultrasound technology but also a new feature called 5D High Definition Ultrasound. 5D is an extraordinary rendering method generating amazingly realistic images of the human fetus.
3D is a still image while 4D adds the dimension of motion so it looks like a video. 5D ultrasound is the newest technology available on the market. 5D HD Live takes your traditional 4D Ultrasound and uses a new rendering software and lighting software to allow us to have a much more realistic image of the baby.
Ultrasound uses sound waves, this technology has been used in clinical applications since the 1950’s. In 1975 ARDMS was founded to promote and standardize quality and safety measures for practicing sonographers. Unlike other imaging modalities ultrasound DOES NOT USE RADIATION. There is NO exposure to ionizing radiation with ultrasound. According to the March of Dimes and the FDA, “the greatest danger to a pregnant woman and her unborn child is not actually the machine, but an unskilled operator who may make an incorrect diagnosis”. The knowledge and skills one achieves upon attending an accredited ultrasound program is necessary to assure that all preventative measures are taken to carry out an ultrasound examination with minimal exposure. The Pregnancy Studio has trained sonographers who follow FDA guidelines and principals for length of scan and frequency of ultrasound waves to be as low as reasonably achieved.
There are several factors beyond our control that contribute to the overall image quality produced. The position of the baby, the placenta, the umbilical cord, and the fetal limbs can all interfere with the ultrasound photos. The amount of amniotic fluid is a very important factor and necessity for image clarity. Other factors such as thick maternal tissue, fetal activity, and your babies’ gestational age all play a role in the overall image quality. Keep in mind that your pictures are not going to look just like someone else’s that you may have seen because everyone scans differently, but there are some things you can do to prepare yourself for the best possible outcomes (hydration). We make no promises that the images we obtain will always meet everyone’s expectations, however, in this case, a complimentary rescan will be scheduled within 14 days of your original appointment, and we do promise to make every effort with in our control to obtain the best possible images.

Yes, we ask that you stay well hydrated prior to your appointment. 10-12 8 ounce of water is recommended. We also recommend to try to come hungry to your appointment (not fasting). Usually when you are hungry so is your baby. Coming in hungry may increase the chances of having a motivated baby at the time of your session. Please keep in mind we CAN NOT pose the baby nor tell them what to do.

We feel the best time for most women is in there 25th to 35th week of pregnancy. 3D/4D ultrasound can be done up 39 weeks. However keep in mind that the bigger the fetus gets the less you will see. This is because a 3D/4D ultrasound depends on amniotic fluid. As a fetus gets bigger the fluid automatically decreases resulting in images that are not very clear.
Yes, in all our years of experience we have notice that women who follow their doctor’s recommendation of drinking 48 ounces to 64 ounces of water a day have more amniotic fluid giving us better chance on getting clear images. Also keep away from juice and sweetened drinks and limit the use of caffeine, too – including caffeinated teas and colas. We recommend you speak to your health care provider and follow your providers’ water recommendations.
The clarity of the images is based on you not on us. We apologize but we would not be able to give a refund if the images are not clear. That has nothing to do with the 3D/4D/HD technology nor the staff. That has to do with the amount of amniotic fluid. The more fluid you have, the better the quality of the image. All sales are final.

We use state of the art ultrasound equipment. Our ultrasound machine, GE Voluson E8 Expert is the best machine for 2D, 3D & 4D ultrasounds in the market. We are also one of the few ultrasound facilities that have the 5D HD Live technology; which gives amazingly realistic images of your unborn. Please note, many organizations claim to use “state of the art” equipment, when in fact they use older or inferior technology which may not be calibrated properly. All of our equipment was purchased directly from the manufacturer. Our equipment is inspected and maintained regularly.
